Hey Indiana Drivers, what information do you need about your driver’s license suspension? Here’s the info on Indiana SR22s and Driver’s License suspensions. What does the Bureau of Motor Vehicles [BMV] have to say?
HOW TO TELL IF YOUR DRIVER’S LICENSE IS SUSPENDED
License suspended? Unfortunately, you just got another ticket. Does it put you over the line into the suspended category? In Indiana, from South Bend to Evansville (or anywhere between), you can find out. See your Viewable Driver Record online at no charge – VDR. See for yourself, what’s going on with your driving privilege. Order an official driver record [ODR] at the same place for a small charge.
SUSPENDED? NOW WHAT?
Above all, don’t freak out. Take a breath. You’re already on the path to get it done. Indiana advises in your Driver Record what you need to fulfill to reinstate your driving privilege. You’ll need to take a few steps; accordingly, they want you in the know. BMV even provides a guide on how to read it – Driver Record Legend.
Understand your Situation
First of all, review the Suspension Information section of your Driver Record for more information. Which suspension type do you have? Suspensions are court-ordered or administrative. Car insurance suspensions are either. Some have more requirements. For court-ordered, contact the court in which you were suspended to find out how to fulfill their requirements. For BMV administrative suspensions, you can review your official driver record.

SR22
Most likely and second of all, one of your steps will be to obtain an SR22, Proof of Financial Responsibility. Here’s where we come in. As your car insurance agent, we provide proof directly to the BMV once your policy begins or when the SR22 is added to your existing policy. We upload it to your BMV account. Drivers cannot submit their documents to the BMV. For more information on SR22, click this link for SR22 with car or this one for SR22 when don’t own a vehicle.
REINSTATEMENT FEES
One last thing, you may have some reinstatement fees. The BMV is the decision-maker on this. You could contact their Contact Center [888-692-6841]. You’ll need the access code they provided on the suspension notice. You could also log into your myBMV account.
Important to note: if you pay your fees and don’t do the rest you are still suspended. You must fulfill all requirements to get reinstated.
