Did you know this about car insurance: Providing false garaging address
“Deliberately providing a false garaging location could be considered material misrepresentation, resulting in cancellation of the policy back to inception date.”
That’s what car insurance companies think about not giving your correct address. In other words, providing a false address when getting auto insurance (one that you do not live or stay at) can void your car insurance coverage. This can easily result in the policy being canceled back to the beginning, as if it were never issued. Why? Because material misrepresentation interferes with the insurance company’s ability to accurately assess their risk. It’s fibbing/telling an untruth to obtain a policy. That’s a big deal to them. To read more about it, see this blog post.
So be in the know! To protect your car insurance coverage, always give correct and accurate information when you get a quote and/or write the policy. Providing a false (or different) garaging address, one that you don’t live at daily, jeopardizes your coverage. Benjamin Franklin was right to popularize this phrase: “Honest is the best policy.” It works for car insurance too!
